On October 7, South Africa and Ireland will play their third One-Day International at Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi. Temba Bavuma, the Proteas captain, will not be available for the last ODI of the series. The 34-year-old’s left elbow soft tissue injury has forced him out of the contest. Rassie van der Dussen will captain the team against Ireland while Reeza Hendricks steps in for the experienced player.
In the second One-Day International, Bavuma hurt himself diving to keep himself from being run out by the non-striker. The right-handed batter had to be stopped from fielding during the game after diving with his elbow falling squarely on the ball. He won’t be able to play in the next game, but he and the team will head home on October 8.
Temba Bavuma, the captain of the Proteas Men’s One-Day International (ODI) team, will not play in the third ODI against Ireland because of a soft tissue injury to his left elbow. In the 12th over of South Africa’s innings, the 34-year-old fell on his elbow while attempting to gain ground at the non-striker’s end, resulting in the injury that occurred during the second ODI on Friday. He was unable to field due to the injury, CSA tweeted.
“On Tuesday, Babuma and the rest of the team will travel home, where they will seek expert advice. We’ll send you an update as soon as possible regarding the severity of his injury. He has been replaced by Reeza Hendricks, who has been called up. Later today, the 35-year-old is scheduled to arrive in Abu Dhabi. For personal reasons, all-rounder Wiaan Mulder returned home today, the press release continued.
In Monday’s series finale, the team will be led by Raisie van der Dussen. The match is scheduled to begin at 15:30 local time, with South Africa leading 2-0 and not looking back,” the announcement said.

In reference to the ODI series, the Proteas are in control of the trophy, having won 2-0. By huge margins of 139 and 174 runs, respectively, they won the first two games handily.

Ireland will be hoping for a joyful conclusion to a challenging journey in the series. Notably, Ireland won the second Twenty20 International by ten runs, and they were able to tie the series at one wicket.
