IND vs BAN: Teams return to hotels as Day 2 of Kanpur Test is delayed due to rain

So far, rain has plagued the second Test at Green Park, Kanpur. Play on Day 2 has been delayed due to rain after Day 1 could only muster 35 overs of play. India would like to win the second Test in order to maintain their lead in the World Test Championship (WTC) points standings. They are leading the two-match series 1-0.

As the coverings covered the entire field, rain met the two teams when they returned to the field on Saturday, September 28 to resume the Test. The broadcasters continued by revealing that the first session was a complete washout. They chose to board their individual team busses and return to the hotel after a period of waiting. The weather for the remainder of the day is not looking good, so there is very little possibility that play will resume.

An examination of Day 1’s events

The likelihood that this match ends in a tie increases significantly if play is not feasible on Day 2. Bangladesh achieved a score of 107/3 on Day 1 after a valiant batting display. After a dismal batting display in the first Test in Chennai, the visitors’ performance here was noticeably better.

The Bangladeshi openers withstood Mohammed Siraj and Jasprit Bumrah’s tough new-ball stints, but Akash Deep, the second substitute bowler, eventually overcame them. At 29/2, it appeared as though the Tigers were being haunted by the ghosts of the opening Test. To counter, Mominul Haque and captain Najmul Hossain Shanto cobbled together a 51-run partnership off 101 balls.

Before Mominul and Mushfiqur Rahim teamed together, Ravichandran Ashwin removed Shanto from the game after he scored 31 off 57 balls. As soon as play restarts, the two seasoned cricket players will want to bat long and put their side in a strong spot.
