Tayla Vlaeminck ruled out of WBBL due to shoulder injury

A significant news is that Tayla Vlaeminck, a pacer for the Melbourne Renegades and Australia women’s team, has been ruled out of the Women’s Big Bash League (WBBL) for the third straight season due to a shoulder dislocation sustained during the Women’s T20 World Cup 2024.

Vlaeminck dislocated her shoulder versus Pakistan, which is noteworthy. She hadn’t participated in a big competition since 2018. Vlaeminck was unable to participate in the remaining Women’s T20 World Cup due to her injury sustained against Pakistan, and the Melbourne Renegades women announced that she would not be participating in the WBBL.

The 25-year-old last competed for the Hobart Hurricanes in the WBBL in November 2021. Prior to 2022–2023, she joined with the Melbourne Renegades, however because of injuries, she hasn’t played a single game for her team.

It’s interesting to note that Tayla Vlaeminck has dislocated her left shoulder twice.

The first time was during the 2017–18 season when she was playing for Victoria. The second instance took place during the Women’s Ashes last year, which was part of the Australia A tour to England. She had corrective surgery when she dislocated her left shoulder again during the trip.

The Melbourne Renegades play the Sydney Sixers to start the season.

The Melbourne Renegades women’s team will play the Sydney Sixers women to begin their WBBL campaign. On October 27, the Adelaide Oval will host the tournament’s second match between the two teams. In the WBBL 2024, Renegades will want to perform well and get better.

It is important to remember that Renegades placed bottom in the standings during the tournament’s previous season. Renegades women have only won two of their fourteen games, losing the other twelve. The team trailed far behind the seventh-place Melbourne Stars with four points.
