The first Tata Sierra SUVs will be given to the Indian Women’s Cricket Team, according to a statement from Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles. The team’s historic victory at the ICC Women’s Women’s World Cup 2025 is celebrated with this gesture.
On November 25, the Tata SUV will make its debut in India, bringing back the recognizable Sierra nameplate that has been updated for the contemporary period.
Highlights of the new Sierra, a 5-door family SUV in contrast to the original 3-door model, include a panoramic sunroof, integrated LED taillights, and streamlined door handles. The car’s striking red paint job in recent teasers further emphasizes its high-end appeal.
A record prize fund of INR 123 crore was declared by the ICC for the 2025 edition, which is almost four times more than the INR 31 crore given out at the 2022 Women’s World Cup in New Zealand and more than the INR 89 crore given out in the 2023 Men’s World Cup. India, the winners, will get about INR 40 crore, while South Africa, the runners-up, will get about INR 20 crore. In contrast, INR 12 crore was given to Australia, the 2022 victors.
The team was also given INR 51 crore by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), with support staff earning INR 20–30 lakh and individual players and head coach Amol Muzumdar reportedly receiving INR 2-3 crore.
Despite finishing fourth in the league phase, the Women in Blue won the title thanks to their amazing efforts in the elimination stages. An all-format series versus Australia in February and March of next year will be their next test.
Indian Women’s Cricket has ushered in a new era for women’s cricket in the nation with its World Cup triumph, leaving its stamp on the sport’s history. The fact that Tata Motors gave the champions the first Sierra units is another example of how women athletes are becoming more and more celebrated in India.
