The hosts needed 17 runs from the last three deliveries, so Taskin tried to keep them in the game. He faced Romario Shepherd and plunged deep into the crease, hitting the ball hard over mid-wicket for six. But in the same motion, his back foot struck the stumps, causing the bails to come loose and ending Bangladesh’s innings. The players from the West Indies started to celebrate after the unique dismissal verified a victory of 16 runs.
Taskin, who celebrated the shot at first, but then realized what had transpired.
The first Twenty20 International between Bangladesh and the West Indies concluded Monday at the Bir Sreshtho Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rahman Stadium in Chattogram with the strange dismissal of Bangladesh pacer Taskin Ahmed. When the right-arm fast smashed a six and was hit-wicket instantly, he was shocked.

Our slog overs needed to be performed a little more effectively: Litton Das
West Indies captain Shai Hope (46*) and Rovman Powell (44*) struck an uninterrupted 83-run partnership for the fourth wicket earlier in the game, helping their team reach 165/3. Powell made sure the visitors ended well by hitting three straight sixes in the last over while playing his 100th Twenty20 International. Bangladesh’s bowlers, such as Taskin (2/36), had a strong start but struggled in the final overs, giving up 51 runs in the final three overs.
Under pressure, Bangladesh’s top order fell apart in response. Even though Tanzid Hasan got off to a strong start, the home team lost four wickets in the power play. The inability of Litton Das (5), Saif Hassan (8), and Shamim Hossain (1) to build on early opportunities put Bangladesh at a disadvantage. Jason Holder (3/31) and Jayden Seales (3/32) made sure Bangladesh never approached the goal, despite some opposition from lower-order contributions from Tanzim Hasan Sakib (33) and Nasum Ahmed (20). Bangladesh’s performance in the slog overs disappointed them, as captain Litton Das acknowledged after the game.
Their batting performance in the first ten overs was excellent. They would have been under pressure if we had got early wickets, and the track was a little slower. As we move into the next game, our primary focus will be on improving our slog over execution. Shamim’s batting performance was a little disappointing; at that moment, he needed to accept responsibility. Aside from the final over, we bowled incredibly well the entire contest. “They (West Indies) also made some excellent catches,” he remarked.
