Taskin asks the batting lineup to fill in for the ailing Shanto

On Tuesday, September 5, Bangladesh pace bowler Taskin Ahmed acknowledged that losing in-form batsman Nazmul Hossain was a major setback for the squad but encouraged his colleagues to fill in for him.

Nazmul, the player for Bangladesh who has scored the most runs in the competition, scored a half-century against Sri Lanka and then a century against Afghanistan. After suffering a hamstring injury during their game against Afghanistan, he is anticipated to return home. An MRI revealed a muscle rupture in the southpaw.

However, Litton Kumar Das, another opener and important hitter, has joined the team after missing the first two games due to fever. Bangladesh may now breathe a sigh of relief. He is anticipated to be taken into account for their Super Four opener against Pakistan on Wednesday at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.

“Shanto’s (Najmul’s) injury is unquestionably a setback for our team. We are hope he recovers quickly. He truly performed well in the two games, and since he was hurt, we hope that whoever steps in to fill his shoes will do their best,” Taskin said on Tuesday.

They are conscious that there is minimal room for error on a batting-friendly track against Pakistan, according to Taskin, who took four wickets to help them defeat Afghanistan.

Pakistan’s batting is undoubtedly among the finest in the world, but Taskin believes that if his team bowls well, they may keep Pakistan under a respectable score.

Because boundaries can be hit if the ball is bowled in several spots, the margin for error on this type of pitch is extremely limited, he explained.

“The wicket in Lahore is batting friendly, but on that particular day neither the wicket nor the condition were within our control, but we adjusted and well and in the coming matches we will try to do better than what we did in the opening game it is good that we are playing in different conditions and getting adjusted quickly and our accuracy and variation was good so we could do well in the opening game,” he continued.

After defeating Afghanistan, Bangladesh stayed in their hotel to conserve energy because the heat has a negative affect on cricket players’ bodies. Taskin noted that this respite will be beneficial for them moving forward.

We have a lot of games coming up, including three in the second round, a road and home series against New Zealand, and the World Cup, so we needed this break to give our bodies and minds a rest. We had the gym and other things, which helped us recuperate well and will benefit us in the upcoming games, he remarked.

“Playing in this condition is difficult for everyone, not just fast bowlers, but that is out of our control. We are trying to recover at the same time, physio and team trainer supporting us greatly so that we are fit and play. Though it is difficult, we still have to play in this condition,” he continued.
