Tabraiz Shamsi opts out of CSA contract with immediate effect

Cricket South Africa and Tabraiz Shamsi have jointly declared that the wrist spinner has opted out of his national contract effective immediately, in a surprising and shocking move.

Shamsi rationalised that he deliberately withdrew from the national contracts in order to be more adaptable and provide better care for his family.

According to The South African, Shamsi said, “I have chosen to opt out of my central contract in order to be more flexible during the domestic season, allowing me to explore all opportunities available and look after my family in the best way possible.”

Additionally, he stated unequivocally that he would be prepared to represent his boyhood team, the Titans, whenever they require his assistance.

“My decision has the full support of the Titans, and I will be a member of the team whenever I can.”

Speaking briefly on Shamsi’s decision, Enoch Nkwe, the CSA’s Director of Cricket and one of the three members Shamsi thanked for their advice and assistance on the matter, also had some words to say.

Shamo is an important part of our white-ball teams, and even though we accept his choice, we are happy that he is still determined to play for South Africa. We really value his candour and transparency about the situation, which is essential and what we expect from ity players,” Nkwe said.

I’m always willing to play for my nation when called upon: Tabraiz Shamsi

Shamsi went on to demonstrate that choosing not to participate in the national contracts had nothing to do with disregarding the needs of his nation.

“I will always be available to play for my nation whenever I am needed, and this will in no way affect my ability or drive to play for the Proteas.

Playing for my country will always be more important to me than any franchise league, since I have always dreamed of bringing the World Cup to South Africa,” Shamsi continued.
