T20 World Cup 2026 final to be held at Narendra Modi Stadium

The International Cricket Council (ICC) is anticipated to reveal the full schedule in the next few days. The Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad has been selected to host the ICC T20 World Cup 2026 final. In contrast to the 2023 ODI World Cup, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) reportedly agreed to restrict the number of host cities, guaranteeing that each location chosen will stage a minimum of six matches.

Ahmedabad, Delhi, Kolkata, Chennai, and Mumbai have been shortlisted by the BCCI as the main Indian sites. Three venues will host a number of matches in Sri Lanka, which is co-hosting the competition. It is yet unknown, though, which Sri Lankan locations would be utilized in the end. In the meantime, there are questions over whether Bengaluru and Lucknow will be able to host games in the 20-team championship.

It’s interesting to note that the Indian board has decided not to consider using the stadiums that hosted the ICC Women’s 50-over World Cup earlier this year, such as the Dr. DY Patil Sports Academy in Navi Mumbai, the ACA-VDCA Stadium in Visakhapatnam, the Holkar Stadium in Indore, and the Barsapara Stadium in Guwahati, for the men’s T20 World Cup matches.

According to reports, the ICC has informed the BCCI that their match will take place in Colombo if Sri Lanka advances to the semi-finals. Additionally, in accordance with the diplomatic agreements made during one of the previous meetings, Pakistan’s knockout matches, should they advance to the final, will take place at a neutral location.

Additionally, according to an earlier agreement between the two boards, the India–Pakistan group-stage match is anticipated to take place in Colombo. This deal, which was made prior to the Champions Trophy, states that India and Pakistan will play bilateral or ICC matches in a neutral venue at least until 2031, if not longer, rather than visiting each other’s nations.

The BCCI and SLC, the co-hosts, have already sent the ICC their planned schedule for the ICC T20 World Cup 2026, which is set to start in the first week of February and end about a month later.
