T20 World Cup 2024: Rohit Sharma fit for Pakistan encounter after minor injury
Concerns regarding Indian captain Rohit Sharma’s condition have added a new dimension to the exciting match between archrivals India and Pakistan in the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2024. Rohit Sharma sustained an injury to his arm during India’s opening game against Ireland.

On June 5, in New York, the Men in Blue defeated the Irish team with great ease to begin their T20 World Cup campaign. Before a hard bouncer from Mark Adair struck him and forced him to quit hurting, the star opener was in incredible form, smashing a scorching 52 off just 37 balls.

Thankfully, a senior BCCI source has informed us that the 37-year-old’s ailment is not significant. As a result, he should be ready for the June 9 match against the Men in Green at Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York, which is great news for the Indian squad and their supporters.

In an update regarding his injury worries, Rohit himself stated that his arm was a touch sore in a post-match interview. “Just a little sore (the arm).”

What does cricket’s “Retired Hurt Rule” mean?

When a batter is injured and unable to play further, the condition is referred to as a “retired hurt.” The injured hitter may leave the pitch with permission from the fielding captain and return at a later time to finish their innings, provided that it is done before the innings are up. The batter cannot, however, return to play if they are unable to continue batting after that point.

A batter has the right to continue his or her innings if they retire due to illness, injury, or any other unforeseen circumstance, as stated in Law 25.4.2. In the event that this does not occur, the batter will be listed as “retired, not out.”

With an eight-wicket victory over the Paul Stirling-led team, Sharma and company made a spectacular start to their World Cup campaign. The Indian team’s final league match will take place on June 15 at Central Broward Regional Park Stadium Turf Ground in Lauderhill. Following their match against Pakistan, they will play the co-hosts, the United States of America (USA).
