The ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 Team of the Tournament is made up of players from four different countries. Six players, including Player of the Tournament Jasprit Bumrah and captain Rohit Sharma, represent champion India.

After making a breakthrough run to the semifinals, three Afghan players are selected. The panel of selection included Wasim Khan, the General Manager of Cricket at the ICC, and pundits Harsha Bhogle, Ian Bishop, and Kass Naidoo.

The team of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 (in batting order) is:

  1. Rohit Sharma (captain) – India
  2. Rahmanullah Gurbaz (wicketkeeper) – Afghanistan
  3. Nicholas Pooran – West Indies
  4. Suryakumar Yadav – India
  5. Marcus Stoinis – Australia
  6. Hardik Pandya – India
  7. Axar Patel – India

After leading India to their second-ever triumph in the competition, Rohit Sharma has been named captain of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 side. Sharma scored 257 runs in eight innings to rank as the competition’s second-highest run scorer. He scored a career-high 92 runs in the victory over Australia, and he added another 57 in the team’s victory in the semi-final.

Rahmanullah Gurbaz, the only player to surpass the Indian opener in runs scored, joins him at the top of the order from Afghanistan. Afghanistan made its first-ever semi-final appearance because to 281 runs scored by Rahmanullah, who also scored half-centuries in three different games. Afghanistan made it out of the Super 8s thanks in large part to his 60 against Australia.

Nicholas Pooran, the West Indies wicket-keeper batsman, comes in at number three. He scored 228 runs at an average of 38, including a 98 off of 53 balls in a triumph over Afghanistan. The second player from India in the XI is Suryakumar Yadav, a hard-hitting batsman who was rewarded for several significant innings, including 47 in the semi-final match against England and 53 off just 28 balls in the Super 8s victory against Afghanistan.

Marcus Stoinis is the only other Australian on the squad, coming in at No. 5 after an outstanding tournament. With a strike rate of more than 160 and an average of more than 40, Stoinis made a valuable contribution with both the bat and the ball. Throughout the tournament, he also contributed ten wickets.

Next up is an Indian all-rounder named Hardik Pandya, who amassed 144 runs at an average of 48, claimed 11 wickets with the ball, and bowled the crucial final over to secure the win.

With the bat and the ball, his teammate Axar Patel had a similar impact. The left-armer was moved up the order in the final after making a crucial 47 and contributing three wickets for 23 to assist the team beat England in the semifinal.

Standing at number eight is Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan, an all-rounder who has been quite successful in the Caribbean with 14 wickets at an average of 12.78 and an economy rate of slightly over six. Jasprit Bumrah, who has been the tournament’s best performer overall, comes next. His session turned the tide in favour of India in the end; he finished with 15 wickets at an economy rate of 4.17 and an average of just 8.26.

Arshdeep Singh, who played brilliantly in his second World Cup, is the last Indian player in the starting XI. With a decisive two-for-20 in the final, his 17 wickets tied the record for most by any player.

Fazalhaq Farooqi, the last member in the XI, was the only player from Afghanistan to match Arshdeep’s wicket total. Afghanistan advanced beyond the Black Caps in the group stages thanks to his four for seventeen, which helped them defeat New Zealand.

Second place Anrich Nortje, who has been a standout player for the Proteas, represents South Africa as the team’s 12th player. At a 13.40 average and an economy rate of less than six, he claimed 15 wickets.
