Bangladesh, batting first, scored a respectable 159/5 in their allotted 20 overs. With a quick 35 off 26 deliveries, Tanzid Hasan set the tone. Shakib Al Hasan, with an undefeated 64 off 46 deliveries that included nine boundaries, was important. Jaker Ali (14* off 7) and Mahmudullah (25 off 21) both contributed to their innings. Paul van Meekeren and Aryan Dutt both claimed two wickets, indicating some success for the Netherlands’ bowlers.
The Netherlands, needing to chase 160 runs, had a rough start, losing wickets quickly. Vikramjit Singh’s 26 off 16 balls and Sybrand Engelbrecht’s rapid 33 off 22 balls offered resistance. But Bangladesh’s methodical bowling assault, spearheaded by Taskin Ahmed (2/30) and Rishad Hossain (3/33) managed to maintain pressure. The Netherlands failed to reach the goal, managing only 134/8 in their 20 overs despite late efforts from the lower order.

Shakib mentioned that the lack of games played on this field in recent years had an impact on their plan to hold out until the later overs. He acknowledged that the pitch conditions were aided by the usage of neck braces during batting, but praised the bowlers for their effective execution of their plans despite the wind and defensive problems.
“Batting through the innings was crucial for a player in the top four. Glad to help out. The pitch was difficult. was not a winning total, but it was a difficult one, and Rishad and Taskin stole it from the Netherlands. The last four to five years have seen hardly any games played here. Therefore, we had to hold wickets for 14–15 overs and proceed accordingly. Ten runs an over on this field with a breeze blowing in one direction gave them their moments, making defence difficult. But congratulations to bowlers for making it work. He remarked, “It did help that the neck braces were for batting.”
