In 2024, Swapnil Kusale represented India in the 50-meter rifle shooting event at the Olympics in Paris, winning the Bronze Medal. The fans connected with the 28-year-old Indian Railways ticket collector since legendary Indian cricket player MS Dhoni was a ticket collector before he joined the national team. After winning the medal, Swapnil drew a parallel line and remarked that, because of the similarities in their journeys, he looked up to Dhoni as an inspiration.
Before becoming well-known in Indian cricket, the former captain of the country was employed as a ticket collector at the Kharagpur Railway Station. Kusale, on the other hand, had a comparable job profile in the Maharashtra station Kolhapur. Additionally, it was revealed that Indian Railways had been turning down Kusale’s requests for promotions for years before deciding to give him two promotions as a result of his Olympic success.
“I don’t follow any particular person in the shooting community. Aside from that, I think Dhoni is a great person. I have to be just as patient and composed in my sport as he is on the pitch. Since I collect tickets, much as he did, I can also identify to his narrative,” Kusale added, citing The Times of India.

Regarding Dhoni, he announced his resignation as Chennai Super Kings skipper in before of the 2024 Indian Premier League. It is noteworthy that he just plays in the Indian Premier League and declared his retirement from international competition on August 15, 2020. Under new captain Ruturaj Gaikwad, CSK had a terrible season in the IPL 2024 and missed the playoffs. Fans are guessing about their favourite cricket player’s availability as the 2025 season approaches, and Dhoni is waiting to make moves until new retention regulations are in place.

“There’s plenty of time to do it. We need to watch what choices they make about player retention, etc. The ball is not in our court right now. I will thus answer calls once the guidelines are established, but it must be in the team’s best interests, Dhoni stated.
