Suyash Sharma, a leg-spinner for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), disclosed that he had several hernias before to the 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL) season.
The 21-year-old credited the team for helping him get better faster by helping him get through his illness, including sending him to London for surgery.
“I had stuff going on for me for two years, and we were practicing in February. After receiving shots, I played. We were unable to even recognise the issue I was having in India. I was sent to London for surgery by RCB. There, I got to know James Pipe, the physio for RCBC. Suyash Sharma remarked, “He and his family treated me like their family.”
“I suffered from three separate hernias. To be honest, I didn’t think I would play in the opening game [this season]. After undergoing extensive surgery, I was informed that I wouldn’t be able to play for another three or four games. But I was well taken care of by Pipey and his family. I’m glad I joined this franchise since it helped me get in shape. I had been dealing with the agony for the previous two years prior to it. “I used to play in pain,” he continued.

The leggie, who played for the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the previous two IPL seasons, talked candidly about the difficulties he encountered prior to turning pro. He acknowledged that RCB provided him with a lot of assistance and aid in his recuperation.
“You can still obtain assistance if you’re playing for a franchise or India. However, I was not even playing [for any team] when I sustained this injury. It was challenging because I didn’t know anything at the time and only saw a physiotherapist, who gave me completely different advice. “RCB invested a lot of money in me and showed a lot of faith in me,” he continued.
The spinner, who was born in Bhajanpura, has only taken four wickets at an average of 69.75 this season and has failed to create an impression. With 14 points thus far, RCB is still in the running for the playoffs. On Saturday, May 3, the Royal Challengers will play the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), the first team eliminated from the 2025 Indian Premier League, at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium.
