Irfan Pathan, a former fast bowler for India, sobbed on camera when his country won the T20 World Cup in Barbados in 2024. The last ten days have been extremely painful for the 39-year-old, as his hairstylist Faiyaz Ansari departed away during the major event in the West Indies. Throughout that same phase, Pathan did not broadcast; he returned the night before the finals.
Following India’s victory, Irfan Pathan broke down in tears and talked about how hard it was for him to lose a brother in Faiyaz.
He said that the main reason he is crying is because he is glad right now because he has been through a lot of misery lately. “Until the day I die, I will never forget the catch made by Suryakumar Yadav.” While the Indian team might not be aware, you guys are. For me, the past ten days have been really difficult. These tears I’m crying are happy tears, not sad ones brought on the events in my life, Irfan stated on Star Sports.

India lost three early wickets in their batting innings thanks to Rohit Sharma, Rishabh Pant, and Suryakumar Yadav. Spinner Keshav Maharaj of South Africa claimed two wickets, with Kagiso Rabada claiming the other. The Men in Blue were now down, but superstar Indian batsman Virat Kohli was unbeatable. He and Axar Patel led a counteroffensive against the Proteas that finally resulted in India winning the match.
India scored 176 runs in the first innings thanks to 47 runs from Axar and 76 runs from Kohli in 59 deliveries. Shivam Dube’s 27-run cameo also had a significant effect.
The team led by Aiden Markram was ahead in the race for the most part of the chase. They were close to winning, but in the end, the Indian bowlers stole the victory. Jasprit Bumrah and Hardik Pandya did their best to save India from trouble, but Heinrich Klassen looked menacing.

India won the match by seven runs in the end, despite South Africa needing 30 runs to win in 30 balls. The Men in Blue thus captured their second T20 World Championship.
