Rohit Sharma's pessimism before Suryakumar Yadav's breakthrough catch

India’s second T20 World Cup 2024 victory was secured by a stroke of brilliance against South Africa. In the final over, Suryakumar Yadav’s game-changing catch to dismiss David Miller had fans questioning its legality.

David Miller hit Hardik Pandya’s low full toss to long-off with Proteas needing 16 runs off the penultimate over of the nail-biting conclusion. He threw the ball back into play as momentum took him towards the boundary, but he regained his balance and caught it again.

Suryakumar Yadav ran over to catch the ball excellently.

A viral image showed a white line beyond the border cushion, prompting speculation that it had been moved. However, a fan on X posted side-on footage of Suryakumar’s grab, dispelling suspicions. The video shows Surya balancing on each side of the boundary rope while catching the ball.

The video also shows Indian captain Rohit Sharma’s devastated expression after Miller’s shot, as he thought the ball would clear the fence. His feelings, nevertheless, changed dramatically when Suryakumar pulled off a stunning move that completely changed the course of the game.
