With an ankle injury of Grade II, Suryakumar Yadav is sidelined till February.
Star batter Suryakumar Yadav has suffered a Grade-II ankle rupture, which is a significant setback for India. The 33-year-old will be sidelined until February 2024, or seven weeks. The batsman reportedly had scans done on his ankle after twisting it during a fielding play during the third Twenty20 International match against South Africa.

Due to his injury, he will not be able to play for the Men in Blue when they play Afghanistan at home in a three-match Twenty20 International series beginning on January 11. The 33-year-old will be at the NCA, where he will try to reintegrate with the team after taking some time off to heal.

“His recuperation will take some time. In order to complete his rehabilitation, he must report to the National Cricket Academy later. He will undoubtedly miss the Afghanistan series, the Indian Express said, citing a BCCI source.

Due to Hardik Pandya’s absence—he is also out injured—the star hitter was given the Indian leadership for the Twenty20 Internationals. As things stand, Pandya and Suryakumar Yadav will not play against Afghanistan since the BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) is searching for a new captain.

After winning the ODI series, India now concentrates on the Tests.

Team India is presently playing the Proteas in a multi-format series while they are in South Africa. After a three-game T20I series that ended in a stalemate between the two teams, the Men in Blue swiftly recovered and produced outstanding performances to win the ODI series.

India won the first and third ODIs of the series in convincing way, led by KL Rahul. In addition, the tourists will be eager to turn their attention to the forthcoming two-game Test series now that their white-ball responsibilities are over.

On December 26, South Africa and India will play their first Test match at the SuperSport Park in Centurion. Having won the ODI series, India will be hoping for a repeat of their ODI triumph in the longest format.
