Suryakumar Yadav is available for Mumbai's Ranji Trophy game against Maharashtra

Leading the Indian team in the current Twenty20 International series against Bangladesh is Suryakumar Yadav. The squad has already won the series 2-0 under his leadership, and the third Twenty20 International is set for October 12. The skipper of the India T20I team may go right into the Mumbai team for their second Ranji Trophy match against Maharashtra following the series.

The defending champions, Mumbai, will face Maharashtra in the second round, which is scheduled to begin on October 18.

Suryakumar Yadav has declared himself eligible for selection, and should all goes according to plan, he will play for Mumbai in the local match.

According to an MCA source cited by The Indian Express, “He has informed the MCA that he will be part of the Ranji Trophy team which will play against Maharashtra.”

This season, the Ranji Trophy is split into two parts, with the Vijay Hazare Trophy (50 overs) and Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (T20) in between the hectic schedule. The decision was made with the unfavorable weather in northern India in mind as well as the need to lighten the players’ burden.

Ranji Trophy match intervals have widened.

It is noteworthy that former cricket stars Rahul Dravid and Shardul Thakur have drawn attention to the players’ heavy workload. They jokingly said that there should be much less rest time between matches—three days. With the new season, the BCCI has chosen to maintain a four-day gap between a given team’s Ranji matches.

“There will be a lot of injuries nationwide if guys continue to play like way for two more seasons. They [the BCCI] need to take another look at it and give it more of a rest the following year.

The first three games of the Ranji Trophy used to have a three-day break, followed by a four-day break, and the knockout stages involved five-day pauses, according to Thakur, who played the match seven or eight years ago.
