Before the 2023 World Cup, Suresh Raina made a huge statement about Shubman Gill: “He wants to be the next Virat Kohli.”

The top run scorer in ODIs in 2023 is Indian batting phenom Shubman Gill, who is in top form. With 302 runs to his credit, the 24-year-old recently concluded as the Asia Cup 2023’s leading run scorer. Gill will be one of India’s major batters at the World Cup and will be counted on to score most of the runs at the top of the order.  In the World Cup, Raina praised him as one of the team’s most crucial players and predicted that he would surpass Rohit Sharma’s remarkable performance from the previous year.

The batsman from Punjab has received special accolades from former Indian batter and 2011 World Cup victor Suresh Raina before of the major event.

Gill became the seventh player to reach 200 ODI runs at the plate.

As of now in ODIs in 2023, Gill has amassed 1052 runs in 18 innings at an average of 70.03 and a strike rate of 104.05, with 474 fifty-plus scores to his credit. In addition, against New Zealand in Hyderabad in January 2023, he became just the seventh male cricketer to achieve a double hundred (208) in the fifty-over format. The starting batter will try to continue his excellent form into the World Cup and aid India in winning their third championship.
