Harbhajan Singh and Suresh Raina explain why India shouldn't become complacent in the home Test match against Bangladesh, saying, "You cannot take them lightly."

As India gets ready to welcome Bangladesh in a two-match Test series at home beginning next month, Suresh Raina and Harbhajan Singh cautioned them against being complacent.

India has never been defeated by Bangladesh in the game’s longest format. But Najmul Hossain Shanto’s team shouldn’t be underestimated because earlier this month they defeated Pakistan in their first-ever Test match.

Suresh Raina praised the BCCI’s decision to field the majority of the best Indian cricket players in the next Duleep Trophy competition.

The former cricket player for India added that the Bangladesh series will serve as a useful warm-up for the Border-Gavaskar Tests, which take place later this year.

“A Tests team will now be assembled. The BCCI’s intention to have top players participate the Duleep Trophy is a good one. Playing red-ball cricket is an excellent way to learn new concepts. Bangladesh has some excellent players who have excelled for a long time and a strong spin bowling attack, so you should not take them lightly. “This series will serve as excellent preparation for the upcoming tour to Australia,” Raina was cited by Hindustan Times.

Smaller teams can occasionally play well in games: Harbhajan Singh

Harbhajan advised the Indian squad not to underestimate Bangladesh after highlighting their noteworthy victory over Pakistan in the Rawalpindi Test.

“This series is going to be amazing. The Indian cricket team is talented and has a lot of promise. We cannot, however, attack Bangladesh as well, as they defeated Pakistan in the first Test match. Smaller clubs can occasionally play well in games, according to the former off-spinner.

Starting on Thursday, September 19, the historic MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai will host the first Test match between India and Bangladesh. In the meantime, the second Test begins at Green Park, Kanpur, on Friday, September 27.

The second and final Test match between Bangladesh and Pakistan is presently taking place at Rawalpindi. Prior to travelling to India, they will try to secure an uncommon victory in a Test series.
