Sunil Gavaskar upon Shubman Gill Centurion dismissal

Shubman Gill performed appallingly in the Boxing Day Test matchup with South Africa. Before falling victim to Marco Jansen, the youthful player, who was batting at number three, scored two runs in the first and twenty-six in the second inning. His wicket went flying as he was forming an important partnership with Virat Kohli, but he mistimed the ball. Subsequently, the renowned Indian cricket player Sunil Gavaskar declared that the cricket player erred in judgment. If Shubman Gill had played closer to mid-on, the 74-year-old said, he wouldn’t have run into any problems. But he lost control of the situation when he attempted to play towards mid-wicket.

“Shubman Gill most likely made a single error, but the length was excellent and had more substance. Had he attempted to play in the mid-on area, he would not have been in danger. It would have given him an advantage.

Sunil Gavaskar stated this in a conversation with Star Sports. “He tried to play towards mid-wicket.”

The ball passed through, the bat’s edge was visible, and it wasn’t at all straight. He would have had an inside edge if there had been even a hint of the bat’s face showing, but that did not occur. When he bowled on the off-stump, Marco Jansen was being hit. Thus, he considered bowling on the pads, and when he did so, he (Gill) was ejected,” the speaker continued.
