Sunil Gavaskar criticizes India sluggish performance against South Africa on Day 3 as "listless stuff."
On the third day of the first Test match between Team India and South Africa at Centurion, Sunil Gavaskar voiced his displeasure with the team’s lackluster performance. He referred to the team’s performance against the Proteas as “listless” and criticized their muted start. India’s bowlers, Mohammed Siraj and Ravichandran Ashwin among them, suffered after making fielding mistakes and giving up runs. KL Rahul’s missed opportunity off Marco Jansen’s inside edge highlighted the fielding error, which made India’s problems worse.

South Africa took advantage of these mistakes and scored 392 runs for 7 wickets before lunch, in response to India’s total of 245 runs in their first innings. Sunil Gavaskar highlighted the lost chance for India to demonstrate enthusiasm and vitality at the beginning of play on Day 3 and advocated for a more assertive strategy. India received criticism as they encountered a challenging situation and allowed the South African team to gradually make progress in the ongoing Test match.

“India must rouse from its slumber.” Up to this point, they have displayed a lack of energy or enthusiasm. They should exhibit high levels of vigor and enthusiasm at the beginning of the day, yet they have been displaying disorganized and erratic behavior. Lethargic material. During tea time, it is possible that one’s mood may be down. “At the commencement of the day,” Gavaskar stated on commentary, as cited by NDTV Sports.

Elgar prevents India from having any respite throughout his aggressive attack.

India’s ongoing challenge to adapt to South African conditions persisted in the Centurion Test. The Boxing Day match, which was expected to be exciting, became a disaster for the visiting team as they struggled against the dominant Proteas team, who performed exceptionally well in both batting and bowling. India’s batting performance deteriorated in the beginning as they fell victim to Kagiso Rabada‘s exceptional five-wicket haul, resulting in a modest total of 245 runs.

Dean Elgar, in his final series, demonstrated his skill by scoring a dominant century on Day 2, putting India in a defensive position and increasing their anguish. Compounding India’s troubles, newcomer David Bedingham provided stability to the innings and made a commendable score of 56 runs from 87 deliveries. Expectations were optimistic for India to stage a comeback on the third day. Nevertheless, Elgar continued his aggressive attack from the previous day and prevented the Indian pacers from getting any relief, as they faced difficulties in finding their optimal performance. India faced a challenging task in this Test match, as Elgar displayed exceptional skill by scoring an impressive 185 runs.
