India’s all-around strength makes them the team to beat in Twenty20 International cricket, according to former captain Sunil Gavaskar.
On Sunday, January 25, India crushed New Zealand at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati, continuing their dominant run in Twenty20 Internationals. With two games left in the five-match series against the Black Caps, the Men in Blue easily defeated a 154-run target in the third Twenty20 International to grab an insurmountable 3-0 lead.
With eight wickets remaining, India chased down the goal in only 10 overs thanks to brilliant half-centuries from Abhishek Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav. He said that since India has everything covered, other teams won’t want to play them.
Take a look at more than just the batting. They were a winning team in terms of bowling, catching, and outfielding. How do we counter this side? How can this side be stopped? This is a formidable opponent. During the JioHotstar post-match broadcast, Gavaskar stated, “This is a side that will take some beating.”
With his half-century off just 14 balls, Abhishek almost missed his guru Yuvraj Singh’s record for the fastest fifty in T20I cricket. During the 2007 T20 World Cup, the renowned all-rounder hit a fifty off 12 balls against England.
According to Gavaskar, Yuvraj will be the happiest person when Abhishek breaks the record one day.
It’s really difficult to reach fifty that fast. However, Abhishek has demonstrated in the last several games that he is capable of doing so. He’s making progress, having completed it in 14 deliveries once and 16 deliveries the second time. Perhaps one day he will overcome it. And Yuvraj will be the happiest person if that occurs,” Gavaskar stated.
On Wednesday, January 28, the ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam will host the fourth Twenty20 International. India has already won the series, thus New Zealand’s only motivation is pride.
