Sundar Bowls Beauty to Dismiss Athanaze on Day 3

At the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on Day 3 of the second Test match between India and the West Indies, Washington Sundar demonstrated his abilities admirably by dismissing the gifted Alick Athanaze on the stroke of tea with a magnificent ball.

In the second innings, Athanaze, who had scored the most runs for the West Indies in the first, had a fantastic stroke to start off with a boundary. Nevertheless, Sundar delivered a stunning delivery in the fifteenth over that lured the batter forward as it drifted in with the angle from around the wicket. The ball, however, hit the off-stump after spinning beyond Athanaze’s defence after pitching. Despite not doing anything wrong, the Caribbean hitter had to make the lengthy walk back to the dressing room, which left him looking confused.

Sundar ended up taking his first wicket of the game with this. He had bowled 13 overs in the first innings, conceding 41 runs without taking a wicket.

On the strength of an outstanding bowling display earlier in the day, India defeated the West Indies for 248 in their opening innings. Kuldeep Yadav was the best bowler, taking five wickets in 26.5 overs while conceding 82 runs. With a three-for, Ravindra Jadeja provided him with strong support. Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj, meanwhile, each contributed a wicket.

India chose to implement the follow-on. The West Indies have since produced a far stronger batting performance. It took John Campbell just 69 balls to get his half-century. The tourists’ primary goal will be to eliminate the deficit.
