Sudharsan’s Unbelievable Catch Sends Campbell Back, Injury Scare Follows

The ball landed in Sudharsan’s left hand after bouncing off his right knuckles.  On Day 2 of the second Test match between India and the West Indies at Delhi’s Arun Jaitley Stadium, India unexpectedly drew first blood. John Campbell, who appeared comfortable facing the Indian pacers, was unlucky to get out to Ravindra Jadeja.

This incident occurred in the eighth over of the West Indies innings, following India’s 518/5 declaration. Bowling his opening over, Jadeja hit a ball just outside Campbell’s off-stump. The slog sweep was perfected by the southpaw, but to his dismay, Sai Sudharsan caught the ball at forward short leg. In reality, he was trying to avoid getting hit by evasive movement.

Both the fans present and Campbell were in complete shock. In order to get medical attention, Sudharsan had to leave the pitch right away after helping India make their first breakthrough in the Test match.

After making a ten off 25 balls, Campbell had to make the arduous journey back to the changing room. He became the 335th victim of Jadeja’s Test. In the game’s longest format, the all-rounder from Saurashtra is India’s fourth-highest wicket-taker.

Shubman Gill hit his tenth century earlier in the day on Delhi’s breathtaking batting track. With 129 runs off 196 balls, he was still undefeated. This came after Yashasvi Jaiswal was dismissed for 175 in the day’s second over. Before being removed on Day 2, Nitish Kumar Reddy and Dhruv Jurel also made contributions of 43 and 44 runs, respectively.
