Dale Steyn, a former South African cricket player, has enumerated his reasons for believing that the forthcoming Twenty20 International series between India and South Africa will be a thrilling match. The all-format series’ T20I leg is set to begin on December 9.
Shubman Gill and David Miller’s return to competitive cricket, according to Steyn, are two important things that South African and Indian supporters should be aware of.
First of all, Shubman Gill seems to be returning to India. Every Indian fan is rather pleased about that. David Miller is number two. He has returned to South Africa. David Miller, big hitting! “He hits the ball out of the ground, and I can’t wait to see him return,” Steyn said on JioStar.
The former bowler expressed his excitement for the first India-South Africa match in Twenty20 International cricket since the two sides’ meeting in the high-stakes T20 World Cup 2024 conference in Barbados last year.
“The third match is a Twenty20 match between South Africa and India. I haven’t watched South Africa play India in a Twenty20 match since the 2024 World Cup final in Barbados.
It’s going to be amazing to witness, and I’m thrilled to be a part of it,” Steyn continued.
In relation to the current series, India is coming off a 2-1 victory in the ODIs. They sealed the series by winning the first and third games in Ranchi and Visakhapatnam. Following losses in Guwahati and Kolkata, the hosts were completely thrashed in the red-ball leg.
The cricket boards of both countries have revealed their T20I teams. Given the roster of dynamic athletes chosen to represent both teams, there will be a great deal of interest in how the series develops.
They will use this forthcoming series as a crucial opportunity to hone their teams in preparation for the 2026 T20 World Cup, which will be held in India and Sri Lanka. In the ICC Men’s T20I rankings, South Africa is presently ranked fifth, while India is ranked first.
