Though he is a fantastic option to consider, CSK head coach Stephen Fleming has stated that they will also be looking at other players in the mix.
This season, the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) team has had some regrettable injuries that have forced some replacements. Dewald Brevis, a rising star from South Africa, is one of them.
Gurjapneet Singh, a left-arm seamer who was injured, was replaced by Brevis. Although he was a member of the Mumbai Indians in 2022 and 2024, he was unable to play much throughout both seasons. There were rumours that Brevis will be included in the starting lineup for the match against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) because the CSK team has been having a difficult season.
He’s among the possibilities we’ll consider. Other players have also joined us for the duration of the competition. Brevis is a valuable addition to the club, but we must manage the team we believe would be the best given the players who have been training with us and consider Brevis’ potential influence. According to India Today, Fleming stated, “So that’s part of the discussion.”
Not a single performance has been deserving of our honours board: Stephen Fleming
The middle order’s lack of success this season is one of the issues the Kiwi team has had, according to the head coach. Despite having excellent starts, Fleming has claimed that the middle order hitters have not been able to turn them into significant runs.
It’s a combination of factors; perhaps there is a lack of confidence. The IPL is difficult. We haven’t turned the 20s and 30s that players are starting into significant scores. The one 75+ innings that sets up the rest of the team is what we’re missing. We haven’t had a single performance this year that deserves to be on our “honours board,” Fleming said, adding that the batting order hasn’t fully clicked.
