Starc Backs Lyon’s Strong Comeback

Ace Australian speed After finishing his rehabilitation program after suffering a hamstring injury during the current Ashes, Mitchell Starc supported fellow countryman and great off-spinner Nathan Lyon to make a strong comeback. On the fifth and last day of the third Test, the young player walked off the pitch and then used crutches to get back to the stadium.

Starc talked about how unfortunate Lyon’s injury was. However, the left-arm bowler said Lyon should be happy of his work, which was crucial in helping the Pat Cummins-led team win the Ashes with an unbeatable 3-0 lead and secure an 82-run victory in Adelaide.

It’s very bad for him. It must be difficult to accept. In this [Adelaide] Test match, he made a significant contribution. Above all, he should savour the present.

According to ESPNcricinfo, Starc said, “He’s helped us get to this victory.”

The left-arm pacer talked about Lyon’s past successes in overcoming calf problems and coming back stronger than before. Additionally, he hoped that the veteran’s injury was not severe and that he would return soon.

“He’s obviously had a layoff due to his calf during England, so in terms of what rehabilitation requires, he’s kind of on board with the fast bowlers.” He still has the desire to give more to Australia, in my opinion. That’s all he needs to consider. I hope it’s not a major layoff. However, it’s clear that he was disappointed. “Hopefully, he returns soon,” Starc said in closing.

Lyon was vital for Australia in a match that resulted in yet another home series victory over their bitter rivals. In England’s first and second innings, Lyon scored 2/70 in 28 overs and 3/77 in 25 overs, respectively. Harry Brook (30 off 56), Ben Stokes (5 off 18), and Zak Crawley (85 off 151) were all huge wickets in his second innings.

In Adelaide, Alex Carey was named the Player of the Match. The dates of the fourth and fifth Tests are set for December 26 in Melbourne and January 4 in Sydney, respectively.
