Deep Dasgupta, a former Indian wicketkeeper, praised Yashasvi Jaiswal, saying she appeared prepared for international play. In red-ball cricket, India’s opening pair of Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill performed admirably. In 18 innings, they had an average just below 36. The steady Chesteshwar Pujara, on the other hand, lost his form and was benched for the West Indies Test series’ two games.
Gill gave up his opening spot and shifted to No. 3 to make room for Mumbai opener Jaiswal in India’s playing XI in the Caribbean, replacing the seasoned veteran. In contrast to Gill, who struggled to make an impression in his new role, Jaiswal established himself as the team’s starting opener by scoring a massive century in his first Test innings during the opening Dominica Test, accumulating 171 runs off 387 deliveries. Jaiswal demonstrated his talent once more by earning scores of 57 out of 74 and 38 out of 30 in the second test.
On the other hand, Deep Dasgupta noted that the following trips would present him with more difficult obstacles to overcome.

“The upcoming series against South Africa itself will be a significant challenge. However, based on what we have seen so far, I believe he appears at ease and prepared for this level. It can only get better for him. It was his first outing, and he looked fantastic,” the man continued.
The selection committee’s decision to include Jaiswal in India’s T20I team for the five-match series against West Indies was not unexpected given his successful IPL 2023 season. In the aforementioned series, Ishan Kishan, Gill, and Jaiswal are India’s three opening choices. The series could begin with the seasoned team of Gill and Kishan, but Jaiswal is probably going to get a game or two.
