Sri Lanka women will host Bangladesh women in a series of multiple formats.

Recently, Sri Lanka women’s team announced a multi-format series against Bangladesh. There will be a three-match ODI series and a three-match T20I series against Bangladesh. All games will be contested in Colombo, with the P. Sara Oval hosting the ODIs and the SSC Ground hosting the T20Is.

The ODI series will be played from April 29 to May 4, while the T20I series will be played from May 9 to May 12. Before the 50-over series begins, the visitors will arrive on April 25 and play a warm-up match against the SLC Board President XI on April 27.

The last multi-format series Sri Lanka played was against India’s Harmanpreet Kaur-led squad. They participated in three T20I matches, followed by three ODI contests. Sri Lanka, led by Chamari Athapaththu, lost both series against India and will expect a better outcome against Bangladesh.

Bangladesh is presently ninth in the ICC Women’s Championship standings.

Prior to the multi-format series, Bangladesh will be focused on enhancing their performances and climbing the ICC Women’s Championship points table. With two points from three games, Nigar Sultana-led Bangladesh is currently ninth in the women’s championship table.

In contrast, Sri Lanka is tied with the West Indies for seventh place with two points after six matches. Bangladesh played their final game at the Women’s T20 World Cup, where they were eliminated from the group stage and placed last in their group with zero points after four games.

As the visiting team, Bangladesh will have a mountain to overcome before facing Sri Lanka in Colombo.

It will be fascinating to see how the Nigar Sultana-led side performs against Sri Lanka in light of their recent performances, which have been marked by a significant decline.
