ENG vs SL 2024: After a false fire alarm, the Sri Lanka players were removed of the dressing room

Currently in Manchester for the three-game Test series against England are the Sri Lankan players. On Wednesday, August 21, at Old Trafford in Manchester, the first Test will get underway. A fire alarm had sounded, forcing the Sri Lankan team to leave their dressing room before play had began. The fake fire alarm did, however, send the travelling party into disarray. After fifteen minutes, the players went back to their dressing rooms.

Regarding the series, Sri Lanka just suffered a defeat in their lone practise match before facing England. The captain, Dhananjaya de Silva, voiced confidence in the team’s preparation for the crucial series that will go towards the World Test Championship, despite the setback.

“A few matches is what we get, but we wanted to play more. We did not use the entire roster. We have also given a few players a tryout. Even if the outcome wasn’t what we had hoped for, I believe we were prepared. It will work in this match, according to a remark from de Silva obtained by Cricket Times.

England hopes to rise in the WTC rankings.

Regarding the forthcoming series, both Sri Lanka and England will be trying to improve their positions in the World Test Championship standings by winning. In 13 matches thus far in the current cycle, England has won six, lost six, and one ended in a draw. They have 57 points, which puts them in sixth position overall.

However, after four Test matches, Sri Lanka is currently ranked fourth. They have 24 points after winning two and losing as many. Though it would be difficult to beat England in their den, Dhananjaya de Silva and company will be hoping to pick up more momentum in the cycle.
