Sri Lanka Cricket to host men's T-10 competition in December

Finally, after years and months of cultivating aspirations to organise a T-10 event, Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has achieved a significant milestone in that regard. A board announcement states that Sri Lanka will host its inaugural T-10 competition on December 12, 2024.

November 10 is the date set for the draft. The ground-breaking tournament is anticipated to feature six franchises. Along with the Lanka Premier League, Sri Lanka’s premier T20 competition, which has already seen five installments, it will be interesting to watch how the competition unfolds. Additionally, players from other countries are anticipated to play.

Shammi Silva, the president of Sri Lanka Cricket, expressed a lot of optimism about the T-10 event and outlined the many advantages it would have for the country’s cricket structure.

“I am confident that the first-ever draft of the Lanka T-10 Super League is going to set the platform for an exciting and entertaining tournament, which will add colour to the Sri Lankan cricketing calendar and bring in a new experience to our players and fans, alike,” said Silva in the press release that was quoted.

An up-and-coming player from Zimbabwe and the West Indies will be shortlisted in the upcoming draft rounds because T Ten Global Sports operates in these two countries.

The T10 Super League will follow the South Africa Tests.

The Lanka T-10 Super League will take place over 11 days, following the conclusion of the second Test match in South Africa and the start of the white-ball series in New Zealand later in December.

The top-profile regulars from Sri Lanka will also compete in the competition, in addition to the previously indicated availability of players from other countries.
