Next month, Sri Lanka will host a three-match ODI series against Bangladesh. On July 2 and 5, the first two matches will take place in Colombo’s R Premadasa Stadium. On July 8, however, the last ODI will take place at Pallekele’s Pallekele International Cricket Stadium.
The second Test of a two-match series between Bangladesh and Lanka is under underway. Following the conclusion of the test, the ODIs will begin. Sri Lanka selected a 16-man team to play Bangladesh in the One-Day Internationals. Sadeera Samarawickrama, a batter, has returned to the team, while Charith Asalanka has been named captain. In November 2024, Samarawickrama played his final One-Day International for Sri Lanka against New Zealand.
The 50-over matches will include seasoned players Kusal Mendis, Maheesh Theekshana, Wanindu Hasaranga, and Avishka Fernando. Milan Rathnayake, an all-rounder who was injured and missed the second Test, has been added to the ODI team; however, his inclusion is contingent upon a fitness evaluation.
The Galle International Stadium hosted Lanka and Bangladesh’s first Test match. There was a draw in the match. The second Test in Colombo is being dominated by Sri Lanka. Before the hosts reached 458, the tourists were bowled out for 247 in the first innings. At the end of Day 3, the Tigers were still 96 runs down after reaching 115/6 in the second innings.
Returning to the ODI format, in February, ahead of the Champions Trophy 2025, Sri Lanka dominated Australia in a two-match ODI series. Against the Men in Yellow, they will try to pick up where they left off.
