In the sun at Lord’s, London Spirit defeated Manchester Originals with eight balls remaining thanks to a fifty from Georgia Redmayne.
Redmayne, who had a rough start to the batting, struck for 66 off just 59 balls, helping Spirit reach the target with just two wickets lost.
With Meg Lanning and Cordelia Griffith having already left the field, Heather Knight, the captain of England, provided her with excellent support in the chase with a cool-headed 29 off 27 balls.
After a poor first innings score, the Originals were left to lament missed catches by both Redmayne and Knight in a defence that required a good fielding effort to have any hope of winning.
Earlier in the day, the Originals were limited to 112. Charlie Dean and Sarah Glenn did the damage with the ball.
Throughout, the Spirit’s fielding display was outstanding, highlighted by two outstanding plays Sarah Glenn‘s magnificent caught and bowled and Cordelia Griffith’s outstanding deep catch that removed Emma Lamb.
The Originals were kept in check by wickets falling regularly; Kathryn Bryce ended up top-scoring with 32 off 27 balls.
Hero Meerkat “It was a little bit of a tricky wicket,” stated Georgia Redmayne. We played excellent bowling to limit them to that amount.
“Although I didn’t get off to a great start, it was nice to have some time in the middle.” I made an effort to remain composed and play to my advantages; try to get one or two out of the way before moving on.

“As a team, we had a little wobble early in the league but have been playing some really solid cricket. We opened the campaign with two wins. Since this is our final game here, we wanted to win and put on a show.”
