Following an outstanding batting display against the Rajasthan Royals (RR) on March 26 in Match No. 6 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, Quinton de Kock, the opener for the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), shared his thoughts on the surface at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati.
Quinton de Kock clarified that it was difficult to bat since the pitch favoured the spinners.
He claims that he strikes the ball where he wants it to go and plays the ball as it comes. Everyone plays cricket differently, but ultimately, every player wants to play a decent brand of cricket, the Proteas cricketer retorted in an IPL video. The 32-year-old was pleased with the win over RR and emphasised the importance of playing each ball according to its value.
You have to play the bowl as you see it and play the bowl where you want to, which is how I prefer to play cricket, he added. “You know, there were guys who suited this wicket bowling a lot of cutters, especially the spinners made it very difficult.”
“We just want to play good cricket, but some guys are really different.” The cricket player continued, “The victory was very convincing. It’s always nice to win. To be honest, I was just standing there trying to play the bowl on its merits.”
The KKR opener won Player of the Match after scoring an undefeated 97 off 61 balls with a scorching strike rate of 159.02, which included eight boundaries and six sixes, in the just finished game.
The defending champions defeated Rajasthan by eight wickets in the current season on Wednesday thanks to an outstanding batting display from the wicketkeeper-batter, who also helped them get started on the points table. Furthermore, the Royals have now dropped both of their previous games and will be hoping to bounce back in their upcoming matchup with the Chennai Super Kings.
