Jasprit Bumrah, who is set to tour South African with India, has the potential to be a very dangerous player, according to former batsman AB de Villiers. Referring to him as the pack leader, he said that the Indian pacer will be well-suited to the conditions and predicted that he would keep the hitters off their game throughout the Test series.

Remarkably, Bumrah will be playing in his first Test match in nearly a year. He missed several Test series, including the World Test Championship final and the one against Australia, due to a back issue. Following an extensive rehabilitation period, he resumed playing white-ball cricket and contributed significantly to India’s victories in both the Asia Cup and the ODI World Cup 2023.

Bumrah has an amazing record in South African, and De Villiers noted that he and the rest of the Indian bowling line should pose a serious threat to the home squad.

“Bumrah is unquestionably the pack leader. He’s the type of man that never lets up. never gives up. He possesses every ability. During our most recent South African series, he kept us incredibly busy.

With his ability to angle the ball into the stumps and then just move it in any direction from there, he is the ideal bowler for those conditions. He will certainly keep the South African batters busy since he is a handful. The biggest threat to South Africa is the Indian bowling assault as a whole, the 39-year-old stated in an interview with India Today.

The India Test team for the South Africa series included a few extra unexpected players. Along with seasoned cricketer Cheteshwar Pujara, Ajinkya Rahane was dropped from the team for the WTC final against Australia. Long-time contender Sarfaraz Khan has not yet made it back into the squad, and Srikar Bharat has also not made it.

Alongside Ishan Kishan, the returning KL Rahul has been picked as the wicketkeeper; although, in terms of red-ball cricket, the former has very little experience keeping.
