Cricket South Africa gives signal for their tour to Bangladesh post security assessment

After a security assessment conducted by a select professionals on behalf of Cricket South Africa, the two-match Test series between Bangladesh and South Africa has been confirmed to take place in Bangladesh on schedule.

The South African Cricketers’ Association representative, the board’s operations manager, the team security manager, a safety and security consultant, and others conducted a “in-loco” inspection. Based on the survey completed by the various individuals who visited Bangladesh last week, a report was prepared, as reported by.

CSA had previously been advised that the violence in the nation related to anti-government demonstrations had subsided. The governing body did communicate, nonetheless, that in the event that any risks were found during any of the security checks, they would not be sending the Proteas contingent.

On October 21, the two-match series is scheduled to begin. On October 16, the South African squad is anticipated to arrive in Dhaka. It is expected that the squad would make its announcement later today.

The SA20, the CSA’s own T20 franchise competition, has suffered as a result of the organization’s focus on its own league. In the current World Test Championship (WTC) cycle (2023–25), all six of their series have been reduced to two matches. With only two wins, three losses, and one draw in their games, the Proteas will need to improve if they hope to secure a spot in the Lord’s final at the end of the following year.

The final Test match between Bangladesh and South Africa was in 2022.

April 2022 was the last time the two teams engaged in a red-ball match against one another. Whitewashing Bangladesh, South Africa won the series with ease.
