WTC 2023-25 Points Table: Here's a look at latest standings after South Africa's first Test win in Durban against Sri Lanka

With India needing to win the series 4-0 to advance to the World Test Championship final on their own, all eyes will be on the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024–25. However, because both South Africa and Sri Lanka are still in the running for the WTC and could displace India, Indian fans are keen in the series between them. The Kingsmead in Durban hosted the first Test match, which was easily won by the home team by a commanding 233 runs.

With five victories in nine Test matches, South Africa moved up from fifth place to second place with this victory.

Sri Lanka started Day 4 at 103/5, and the hosts set a goal of 516. In the end, they were hauled out for 282. With this victory, Australia dropped to third place in the points system, causing even another change. Out of thirteen games, they have eight victories, four defeats, and one draw.

Speaking of India, their victory against Australia in the Perth Test has kept them at the top of the rankings. After winning by 295 runs, the tourists now have nine victories in 15 games, five defeats, and one draw. Their straightforward path to the WTC final slot had been hampered by their 3-0 setback to New Zealand.

The competition for the top two slots on the WTC 2023–25 points table has been heightened by India’s triumph in Perth and the Proteas’ victory in Durban. Australia will return to the top rank if they win the Day-Night Test in Adelaide, and South Africa will also feel more confident heading into the second Test, which is scheduled to take place at Gqeberha. Both teams will be fighting to make it count in the race to the Ultimate Test, and the game will start on December 6.
