Mohammed Shami’s return to the national team has been supported by former India captain Sourav Ganguly, who claims that there is no reason why the Bengal bowler shouldn’t be selected. Sourav Ganguly gave Shami high marks for his recent performance, pointing out that the seasoned seamer is healthy and bowling very effectively in domestic cricket.
Since his final Champions Trophy appearance in 2025, Shami has not been included in the Indian squad in any of the forms. Despite his impressive exploits in the Ranji Trophy, the 35-year-old was left out of the forthcoming Test series against South Africa, which begins Friday at the Eden Gardens.
Shami had said in public that he was healthy and ready to play after being passed over for the West Indies Tests. Therefore, I don’t see any reason why he can’t continue to play for India in Test matches, One-Day Cricket, and T20 Cricket.
