Sourav Ganguly Commends Jay Shah’s Progress and Vision During Their Time at BCCI

When he was the BCCI’s president and Jay Shah its secretary, former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly collaborated with the current ICC Chairman. From October 2019 until September 2022, both held the role during a pivotal time for Indian cricket.

Sourav Ganguly reflected on his connection with Shah and his approach at the BCCI, saying that although the son of India’s home minister entered as a “young boy,” he brought his own views and developed considerably during his time as an administrator.

“Shah had his own style, but his desire to do things right for Indian cricket was his greatest quality,” Sourav Ganguly told PTI.

You expected him to be strong and unyielding because he had the authority and backing, but he would go above and above for Indian cricket.

“The relationship was excellent. It’s still excellent. When he arrived in September 2019, he was a little child from Gujarat, California, who was friendly and helpful. Since he is the chairman of the ICC, which is a more important position, it is clear that he had thoughts and that they were valid. He wanted to accomplish things and still does.

Shah had the correct intentions to encourage players in the proper manner, Ganguly continued, despite being aware of the baggage of his past.

He gives players a lot of support. As he gained knowledge, he improved,” Sourav Ganguly said.

His desire to do well for the game was one of his strong points. He is quite honest, and he was always thinking about who he was and what baggage he carried. He so aspired to always act honourably and correctly. We all made mistakes—he and I both did. The game continued even though it was never deliberate.
