Due to visa issues, batsman Soumya Sarkar is probably going to miss the opening of the three-match T20I series against Afghanistan. Following regular skipper Litton Das’s exclusion from the T20I series due to a side muscular strain he suffered during the Asia Cup, Soumya made his comeback to the T20I setup.
Soumya Sarkar , who scored 63 and 45 in his first two games in the NCL T20 to win the call-up, was spotted rehearsing in Sylhet on Tuesday, September 30.
According to a BCB official who spoke to Cricbuzz, “He hasn’t received the visa (for the UAE) yet, and we are waiting for it, but if we can get it (visa) tomorrow, he will fly as soon as possible.”
It is known that getting a visa could take up to three days, and if that’s the case, he probably won’t be able to make it to the opening match of the T20I series. The two teams will play three ODIs following the series in Sharjah, which is set for October 2, 3, and 5.
