Mom charges electricity department of carelessness after her son, 13, was electrocuted in Delhi while play cricket

A 13-year-old boy in Delhi’s Ranhola area tragically died on Saturday, August 10, while participating in a cricket match. During his play in Kotla Vihar Phase-2, the young child was notably shocked by an iron pole that carried electricity.

Following the event, according to police officials, they got a call during the daytime with the sad news of a youngster who had died from electrocution. The youngster was escorted to a DDU hospital by the police right away, where the medical staff pronounced him dead. Police have filed a First Information Report (FIR) in this instance, and as of right now, an investigation is in progress.

The youngster died from electrocution, and we received a PCR report about it at the Ranhola Police Station on Saturday, August 10, 2024, at 1:27 p.m., according to Jimmy Chiram, the Deputy Commissioner of Police (outside Delhi).

When the youngster, who was playing cricket in Kotla Vihar Phase-2, came into contact with an iron pole that was delivering electricity to a gaushala, he was electrocuted, the team learnt. He was rushed by PCR vehicle to DDU Hospital right away, where the DCP ruled him brought dead. DCP Chiram stated that the police had reported that a FIR under Section 106 (1) of the BNS had been filed and that an inquiry had been launched.

A video of Keshav, an eyewitness who saw the tragic incident and the youngster being electrocuted by the pole for almost fifteen minutes, went viral in addition to the police footage. Additionally, he disclosed that he had received electric shocks via the same link at one point. So, in a fit of wrath, he decided to use a tool to cut out the wires.

In the meantime, Anita Devi, the victim’s mother, demanded severe measures against the proprietors of the cowshed and the power department, charging them with negligence because the wire that resulted in the electrocution was left unchecked. She also disclosed that the boy attempted to pick up the ball close to the ground’s pole, which is where many kids play, when the incident occurred. Therefore, this accident may have happened to any other child as well. In addition, she bemoaned the fact that no one arrived in time to save her son.

“My kid went to play cricket with his mates on Saturday. He was a seventh-grader in a government school. He approached the gaushala to get the ball. A pole carrying electric cable to a cowshed shocked him with electricity, according to the victim’s mother.

“Everyone can experience this; a lot of young kids fall on the ground to play cricket. Nobody stepped up to save my son when he was about to die. “My older son was calling out for help to save his life, but nobody asked the Gaushala members to switch off the electricity,” she continued.
