Social media mocks Michael Vaughan for his 'India are playing Bazball' comment

From the moment Yashasvi Jaiswal hit three boundaries in the opening over of the first innings of the second Test match between India and Bangladesh in Kanpur, everyone could see the team’s intentions.

Given their extreme aggressiveness throughout the entire innings, former England skipper Michael Vaughan said in a tweet that India had entered Bazball mode, just after the team declared at 285/9 after 34.4 overs.

The Indian openers appeared ready to destroy everything and everything that the Bangladeshi bowlers were serving them after Bangladesh was bowled out for 231 in the second session of the day. They not only achieved the quickest team fifty in Test cricket history, but also the fastest hundred, fifty-five, two hundred, and two hundred and fifty. Ten batters stepped out to bat, and five of them struck for more than 140 runs. Players like Virat Kohli, KL Rahul, and Jaiswal appeared to be full of all-out aggressiveness.

But, a throng of Indian fans flocked to Vaughan’s comments section, generally disputing the statement, arguing that the type of cricket Vaughan was talking to has already been played by past Indian and international cricket players, and with a higher success record.

Virender Sehwag & Rishabh Pant used to play this brand of aggressive batting in Test cricket even before Bazball was invented

BazBall is a copycat product of ViruBall and PantBall which was destroyed and finished by JaisBall in January 2024.

Day 5: everything is up for grabs as vital WTC points are at risk.

While leading the 2023–25 World Test Championship cycle, India would not want to let up on the momentum they’ve built up over the years, especially considering that their final eight Test matches before the cycle ends are against Australia and New Zealand.

With eight wickets remaining and Bangladesh trailing by 26 runs, it is likely that the final day of play will feature aggressive fielding combined with jingoistic bowling in an attempt to claim a historic victory in a match that has been severely disrupted by rain and ground maintenance problems.
