The Royal Challengers Bengaluru Women (RCB-W) are the team that will be defending their championship in the following season after the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2025 mini-auction was completed. Under Smriti Mandhana guidance, the Women in Red & Gold won the title for the first time last season. Mandhana was also one of the team’s top scorers. The RCB team as a whole won this title for the first time, and they now look forward to defending it in 2025.
At the Sunday, December 15 mini-auction in Bengaluru, RCB made some impressive selections and retained a solid core from their roster from the previous season. Prema Rawat (INR 1.20 crore), Joshitha VJ (INR 10 lakh), Raghvi Bist (INR 10 lakh), and Jagravi Pawar (INR 10 lakh) are among the four players they purchased at the auction. Even if they are not well-known in the cricket world, it is admirable that the team is investing in young players, and Mandhana also supported this squad in a statement.
Smriti Mandhana, the captain, seems to be quite happy with the guys selected.
Ahead of the third iteration of the lucrative competition, the 28-year-old world-class hitter made an uplifting speech for the team’s players and supporters.
“I’m quite pleased with the auction selections; we got what we wanted, and the team is now more dynamic and prepared for any situation or challenge.” I’m excited to join the girls in the dressing room and give it our all for the RCB supporters since Prema Rawat, Joshitha VJ, Raghvi Bist, and Jagravi Pawar have performed incredibly well in the domestic circuit,” Mandhana remarked.
In addition to these up-and-coming young players, RCB-W has some significant names who will be crucial to their next campaign, including Sophie Devine, Danni Wyatt-Hodge, Ellyse Perry (Orange Cap in 2024), and Shreyanka Patil (Purple Cap in 2024).
