In addition Arjuna Ranatunga expressed his understanding of the displeasure felt by Sri Lankan supporters following their team’s poor World Cup performance and promised to do everything in his power to usher in a new era of cricket for the “Lankan Lions.”
“I’ve observed the disillusionment felt by Sri Lankan cricket enthusiasts and their appeal for my assistance. “It is my duty to guide cricket into a new era,” Arjuna Ranatunga declared.
The recently formed SLC Interim Committee will conduct a thorough investigation into recent instances of fraud and wrongdoing.
The seven-member temporary committee will look into the ongoing fraud and corruption that has continued in many years, according to Ranasinghe. Two retired Supreme Court judges and one retired High Court judge make up the committee.
The special audit report for the 2020 Twenty20 World Cup brought to light alleged cases of board carelessness, mismanagement, and corruption. The Minister emphasized the importance of an open and exhaustive inquiry.
The Minister added, “In addition, the committee’s chairman will form subcommittees to handle different topics like administration, cricket development, and law.”
Sri Lanka’s 2023 ODI World Cup campaign was forgettable. Following their humiliating loss to India, Sri Lanka suffered a loss to Bangladesh on Monday, November 6, and now face the possibility of missing out on the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.
