Siraj breaks down wobble seam implementation

Mohammed Siraj has explained how he learnt about the delivery of wobble seams and how that specific variant is used. at the first innings of the series-opening Test at Ahmedabad against the West Indies, Siraj was India’s top bowler with figures of 4/40 in 14 overs.

Even though he had just recently learnt the lingo, Siraj acknowledged that he had been frequently bowling the wobbling seam delivery on any given occasion when there was a lack of in-swing.

I started producing out-swing on my own when my in-swing ended. It dawned on me then that this is what is known as a “wobble seam.” I continued to practise it. The word ‘wobble seam’ is new to me. According to The Indian Express, Siraj said, “I have been bowling like that and tilting the seam a little.”

The right-arm fast also described how, on Thursday, October 2, when bowling at the Narendra Modi Stadium, the wobble seam delivery paid off handsomely for him because the ball wasn’t moving much in the air.

“My wobble seam will work harder when the out-swing isn’t operating. I’ve had the same level of success with it thus far. I’m having fun with that. Additionally, the ball wasn’t swinging all that much because it was today’s wicket. I assumed it was seaming here. As a result, I thought the wobbling seam delivery would work better. I therefore adhered more to it—the wobble seam,” he continued.

Siraj also thought back on the work he had to put in to earn his four scalps. He underlined that he had to work hard for every wicket and that there were no free ones available.

“I work hard to gain wickets. In England, I too worked hard to get wickets. I put in a lot of work here as well. Mujhe free ke wickets diye is not the same as mujhe wicket kisine aise hi nahi diya. To obtain those four wickets, I had to put in a lot of effort,” he said.

Speaking of the match, KL Rahul (53* off 114) and Shubman Gill (18* off 42) are both undefeated at stumps as India trails by 41 runs with eight wickets remaining at the end of the day’s play. The hitters that were dismissed were Sai Sudharsan and Yashasvi Jaiswal.
