SL vs IND 2024: Mohammed Siraj and Kusal Mendis get into a furious verbal incident

The third One-Day International (ODI) of the series in Colombo saw India pacer Mohammed Siraj lose his cool after a furious verbal altercation with Kusal Mendis. After the keeper-batter guarded Siraj’s delivery, the event happened on the third ball of the match’s 39th over. The 30-year-old then lunged in the direction of the batter, who did not hold back in response. Siraj, however, turned to go because he had no interest in it.

Siraj was particularly bad in the third ODI, giving up 78 runs in his nine overs.

After Arshdeep Singh was benched, the pacer from Hyderabad, who was coupled with Shivam Dube, commanded the pace unit but was not able to produce. In contrast, Dube did well with the ball, conceding just nine runs in his four overs. While Sri Lanka scored 248 runs in the first innings, Siraj gave up a lot of runs.

India is now behind 1-0 in the series, therefore winning the third ODI is crucial for the team captained by Rohit Sharma. Pathum Nissanka scored 45 runs and Avishka Fernando scored 96 runs as Sri Lanka’s openers got off to a strong start in the game. Mendis had a strong performance batting third, scoring 59 runs. The middle order fell short of expectations, but the top three set the tone for the hosts. If not, they may have easily gone over the 250-run mark.

India is faced with a difficult assignment since it will not be simple to chase that many runs. While some failed to deliver, Rohit has had an incredible experience with the bat. Riyan Parag was brought in by India as an extra batter, but it remains to be seen if the move is successful.
