Devdutt Padikkal, a batsman for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), talked about his feelings at joining another IPL team at the age of 21. He was “a little uncomfortable” playing for the Rajasthan Royals (RR) after being released by the RCB in 2022, and he had to regain his form.
Despite years of struggling in the league, the athlete has managed to play in every season since making his debut in 2021. He has now returned to the team from whence he began his IPL career. He bats with Rajat Patidar, Phil Salt, and Virat Kohli and has been in outstanding form this season.
“Being undecided about anything is difficult. I was at RCB at the age of 21, so it was obviously a little awkward for me to switch to a different team. I took three or four years to figure out who I am as an IPL cricket player because I didn’t have a lot of self-confidence. It’s not that simple. At the news conference following the game, Devdutt Padikkal stated, “You give it your all, but sometimes it just doesn’t work.”
It’s fun to bat with Virat: Devdutt Padikkal
Devdutt Padikkal also shared his feelings regarding this season’s batting lineup with Virat Kohli. They have formed outstanding partnerships, pursuing the bowlers in accordance with the demands of the game. He commended Kohli’s commitment to the game. In the IPL 2025, Kohli has been in outstanding form and is the top run scorer.
“I had to put in a lot of effort going into this season. I was aware that I needed to get better at some things. There were several parts of the game that I felt were lacking from the previous year. It’s fun to bat with Virat. As a rookie cricket player competing in the IPL, you should strive for the same level of consistency that he has demonstrated over the years,” Padikkal continued.
