Simon Doull, a former New Zealand cricketer and well-known analyst, recently talked about how he was treated in Pakistan after criticizing Peshawar Zalmi captain Babar Azam during the Pakistan Super League 2023. For those who don’t know, Doull said that Babar slowed down his game against Quetta Gladiators in order to score 100.
The star cricket player says that living in Pakistan is like being locked up. He remembered being stopped from going out to eat when angry fans gathered outside the hotel. He went on to say that he was only able to leave that country because God helped him.
“Living in Pakistan is like living in jail. Fans of Babar Azam were waiting for me outside, so I couldn’t go out. And I went many days without eating. Even I was tortured mentally, with God’s help, I managed to get away,” Simon Doull told Geo News.
While talking about the PSL game between Peshawar Zalmi and Quetta Gladiators, Simon Doull said bad things about Babar. The right-handed hitter hit 115 off of 65 balls, but it took him 14 balls to get to 100 from 83. Peshawar Zalmi lost by eight runs, and the Gladiators were able to reach the goal with 10 balls to spare.
“Instead of putting the team first, that’s all that’s been going on for a while. Instead of looking for limits, there is still so much power to come.
“Hundreds are great and stats are cool, but the team has to come first,” said Simon Doull while he was on live.
Doull recently criticized Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) player Virat Kohli for taking 10 balls against the Lucknow Super Giants in the IPL 2023 to get to 50 from 42. The commentator said that the former leader of RCB seemed worried about his own success. “He took 10 balls from 42 to 50. He is worried about reaching his own goals. The announcer said, “I don’t think there’s room for that in this game any more.”
