Harbhajan Singh, a former Indian cricket player, believes Shubman Gill‘s leadership qualities have the potential to elevate Indian cricket to a new level. Most cricketers have praised Gill’s batting and leadership, even if India is behind England 2-1 after three Tests in the current five-match Test series.
Harbhajan also believes that Shubman should use his abilities to bring out the most in him rather than attempting to imitate previous Indian skippers.
“Everyone uses a different approach. They have diverse personalities and different natures. Shubman Gill cannot be Dhoni, Virat, or Ganguly. Every one of them is unique. He has the capacity to be the finest version of himself, which is what he needs. And he’ll discover. According to India Today, Harbhajan said, “I promise you that Shubman will not only lead India well, but he will propel Indian cricket to the pinnacle of the world cricket scene.”
Shubman batting basics, in Harbhajan’s opinion, might make him a key member of the squad in the future. “A major player, Shubman Gill will serve as the cornerstone of the Indian squad for many years to come. How many Indian batters have arrived in England and established their dominance? He is undoubtedly capable, and I never had any reservations about his international cricket credentials. “He has excellent fundamentals,” Harbhajan continued.
Don’t make snap judgements on them: Harbhajan
The former World Cup champion reaffirmed his belief that the current Test team should be given more time before being evaluated, stating that the players have demonstrated their ability to create a team that can beat the best in the world.
“The team’s performance is not determined by its outcomes. Before this tour, I also advised against making premature or frequent judgements on this team. This young squad has the potential to become a global powerhouse. It was amazing that they won the match in Birmingham. India was really near and may have won at Lord’s as well. Additionally, this series will teach this team a lot. Additionally, kids will benefit from the things they learn from this course in the future. Harbhajan pointed out that we shouldn’t pass judgement on them too hastily.
The fourth Test of the series between India and England will be played at Old Trafford. In the penultimate match of the intense series, Gill, who has amassed 607 runs in six innings, will be looking to lead from the front and assist his team in drawing even so that everything is on the line.
