Before the forthcoming ODI match against Australia, which starts later this week, Indian skipper Shubman Gill mentioned what he expects from players like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. Gill recently scored a century in the opening innings of the second Test in New Delhi, helping the Indian Test side defeat the West Indies 2-0 in the series. He will now concentrate on leading the Men in Blue in the ODI format for the first time.
Shubman Gill highlighted the vast experience of Rohit and Kohli, who have been playing for India for nearly two decades, and lauded the seasoned team for it. Adding that their presence adds a great deal of value to the team, he was certain that the two just needed to step onto the pitch and show off their skills against Australia.
“They have been playing for India and winning games for us for the last ten to fifteen years. Each and every team’s captain wants to have the experience they do. What we are anticipating is that.
Our goal is for them to simply go out there and work their magic,” Shubman Gill stated on JioHotstar.
Fans anticipate top-tier cricket throughout the Australian series, which the 26-year-old acknowledged is expected to be quite competitive. The opening edition of the three-match ODI series is slated for Sunday, October 19, in Perth. The second and third matches will then take place in Adelaide and Sydney, respectively.
Nothing changes for us; we’ve been playing some of the best ODI cricket in the last two or three years. The team we’re playing is much the same.
Shubman Gill expressed his excitement about playing in Australia.
This will be the 26-year-old’s first time captaining the Indian squad in white-ball cricket since he succeeded Rohit.
